Tag Heuer New Watch - 300 SLR Calibre 1887 Chronograph

Some people define their times. Juan Manuel Fangio did. The symbol of a golden age of motor racing, through the fifties he was king of Formula 1. Many drivers think he is the greatest ever.

Some designs are an utter revolution. Like the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR which Fangio drove. Lighter than light, as curvaceous as an Oscar Niemeyer building, it pushed performance and design to new heights.

TAG Heuer and Mercedes-Benz: an unbeatable partnership between pioneers of design. We at TAG Heuer have worked closely with Mercedes-Benz to create an exclusive timepiece honouring both the partnership between us and the legendary car. For 150 years TAG Heuer has pursued two goals: beautiful design and absolute precision. They come together in the TAG Heuer 300 SLR Calibre 1887 Chronograph.

TAG Heuer 300 SLR’s looks transport you back to the 1950s, to a time of elegance, and groundbreaking design. The brown face, with its vintage Heuer logo, is a powerful statement of refined retro style. But design without performance is like a car without wheels. That’s why we gave this timepiece our unique in-house Calibre 1887 chronograph movement, so that you can be sure of getting effortless precision. And its bidirectional catch lever makes it energy-efficient too.

Great design should surprise you. Turn the TAG Heuer 300 SLR over to reveal its special secret: a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR engraved on the caseback. It’s an exclusive secret that only you and other owners of this limited edition will share.

This evocation of a legendary era is minutely thought out, refined, yet totally practical. The new-generation Calibre 1887 automatic movement, produced and assembled in house, enables you to start chronograph functions at amazing speed: within 2/1000ths of a second. The 41 mm polished-steel case has a tachymeter scale on the flange. The brown face displays hand-finished hour and minute hands with luminescent markers. The luminescent, hand-applied indexes sport stylish orange detailing. The vintage Heuer logo at 3 o’clock enhances this unique dial look, and the retro inspiration continues in the brown perforated leather strap, with its spectacular orange lining, and Heuer logo on the clasp.

Two sub-counters display chronograph functions: hours at 6 o’clock, minutes at 12 o’clock, both with dials. Running seconds at 9 o’clock are incorporated in the dial, keeping the design uncluttered, and the date is at 6 o’clock. The screw-in caseback features an engraved Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR and a limited edition number.

This exclusive edition of only 3000 pieces is water-resistant to 100 meters.
