With the modified Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera edo competition Motorsport has now added a second high-profile Italian racer to its tuning program after the Murciélago LP 640. Like its bigger brother, this sports car with the bull in its logo excels through its highlighted racing genes and more aggressive appearance after being modified at edo competition.

The most remarkable feature is the sensational acceleration. edo competition achieves these figures thanks to the installation of a massive air box, high flow catalytic converters which are a completely new design and a recalibration of the engine electronics. All components together raise the power output to 560 hp (411 kW) at 8,250 rpm. The power increase of 30 hp / 22 kW boosts the top speed by about 6 km/h (4 mph) to 320 km/h (199 mph). Another highlight: The sound volume of the modified exhaust system can be adjusted via remote.

The sporty concept of the edo Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is rounded off with 19" three-piece racing wheels with an artificially-aged cast center-section, hand-polished outer rims and 39 stainless steel screws.

The front wheels are shod in stock-sized or (on request) 245/35 ZR 19 rubber while 305/30 ZR 19 Dunlop Sport Maxx tires are used on the rear axle. With this solution edo competition enables its customers to reuse the factory tires on their new wheels.

edo competition treats the masculine stance of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera to an additional testosterone injection by lowering the suspension by a good 15 mm and through the use of corner-weighting. With these upgrades, the Lambo sticks to the road so firmly and unflappably that it would take an earthquake to upset its poise.

Like an Arabian Stallion collecting its attention for a jump. Concentrated and full of dynamic body tension. This is how the silhouette of the super sports car called Stallion presents itself. But the latest development of the premium refiner Hamann MOTORSPORT offers far more than a fascinating new aerodynamics concept. The efficiency boost to 630 hp and the Hamann-sport chassis turn the Stallion into one of the most powerful and fastest sports car in the whole world.

Less roof - more wings
The most striking eye-catcher of the individualised Porsche is the lowered roofline. For this elaborate reconstruction, Hamann reduces the windows and pillars up to 8 centimetres. Thereby, the reduced front surface diminishes the air resistance and therefore the fuel consumption. Moreover, this relieves the motor drastically while pushing for maximum speed. But that´s not all: Hamann equips the Stallion with gull-wing doors allowing the door to swing diagonally outward from the body of the car. This proprietary development does not only have an extravagant design, but also an exceptional stability. The combination between the Hamann front- and rear skirt with the altered heck spoiler profile and the roof spoiler produce additional road grip. Side spoilers between the axles put a finishing tough to the overall appearance.


Sensational performance based on well-engineered technology
The core of the Hamann Stallion is its modified engine. The Hamann motor technicians enhance the 3.6 litres Boxer Biturbo motor from standard 480 hp / 353 kW to 630 hp / 463 kW at 6,300 rpm. The upgrade also includes two larger VNT (variable nozzle turbochargers), a sport air strainer, a stainless steel exhaust system with metal catalytic converters and a new motor management.

These are measures which certainly hit their target. The Hamann Stallion accelerates to 100 km/h in only 3.3 seconds and is therefore six tenth of a second faster than its serial counterpart. The new maximum speed tag is sensational. With its efficiency boost and the reduced air resistance by Hamann-Aerodynamics, the Stallion achieves a maximum speed of 359 km/h.

Wheels and chassis - the combination for best roadholding and exclusive appearance
Hamann developed a sport chassis and a matching wheel-/tyre-combination for the optimal handling of the increased requirements of the Hamann Stallion. The three-part Hamann aluminium wheel named EDITION RACE with its black lacquered star and the titan bolting of the high gloss polished rim flange clearly emphasise the affinity of the Laupheim-based refiner to motor sports.

Due to its forge technology production, it is very light and therefore significantly improves the handling- and driving qualities. The wheel-tyre combination is available in 8,5Jx20 inches with tyres measuring 245/30ZR20 in front and 12,0Jx20 rims with 325/25ZR20 tyres at the back.

Hamann recommends top-level tyres type S1 EVO by its technology partner Hankook.
Lowering the vehicle centre by 20 mm with Hamann sport coils also significantly improves the handling.

Perfect combination between motor sports and lifestyle
Only the most precious materials can be found in the Hamann Stallion interior. The Hamann upholsterers only use selected leather for covering the fittings and sport seats. Aluminium gear shift and aluminium pedals make the cockpit gleam in a noble look and perfectly match with the carbon parts of the interior set. Precisely applied embroideries of the Hamann logo in the floor mats and headrests set further creative accents. O sucessor do Cerato

A Kia finalmente revelou oficialmente seu novo sedã Forte, que substituirá o Cerato, modelo que é vendido atualmente no Brasil (em alguns locais é chamado de Spectra). Depois de algumas imagens “secretas”, a marca coreana apresentou a configuração definitiva do modelo.

O visual, logo de cara, dá um ponto positivo ao sedã médio, com linhas modernas mas, ao mesmo tempo, discretas. A frente, por exemplo, lembra o muito bem sucedido New Civic, da Honda. A traseira lembra o Lexus IS.

Quem gostou, mas prefere uma versão mais “ousada”, é só esperar. A Kia também revelará, no futuro, a opção cupê do modelo. Aliás, será o primeiro veículo da marca na configuração citada.

Outros detalhes, como motores e equipamentos de série, deverão ser revelados nos próximos dias, mas já de conhecimento geral que o propulsor 1.6i 16V será uma das opções. Também é esperado um de 2.0 litros e mecânicas diesel 1.6 e 2.0 CRDi, dependendo do mercado.

A aposentadoria David Coulthard

David Coulthard anunciou na última quinta-feira, em Silverstone, a sua aposentadoria como piloto de Fórmula 1. O escocês da Red Bull segue na categoria até o final do ano, e depois passará a ser consultor da equipe austríaca, além de participar de alguns testes ocasionalmente.

Coulthard estreou na Fórmula 1 em 1994, na Williams substituindo Ayrton Senna na equipe inglesa no GP da Espanha, duas provas após a morte do três vezes campeão mundial. Em 1996 ele migrou para a McLaren, onde ficou até 2004 e depois seguiu para a Red Bull, onde está atualmente. A melhor temporada foi 2001, quando foi vice-campeão mundial. Foram 13 vitórias na categoria, 12 delas pela McLaren.

Em seu comunicado, o escocês salientou que poderá disputar outras categorias no futuro. Além disso, fez agradecimentos especiais aos pais, aos seus incentivadores desde o kart, aos antigos chefes de equipe, empresários, ao projetista Adrian Newey e até a Bernie Ecclestone, pelo desenvolvimento do esporte.

Fim da parceria entre Mercedes e McLaren

A parceria entre a Mercedes-Benz e a divisão de carros de rua da McLaren será encerrada. O atual contrato expira no final do ano que vem e, segundo a fabricante alemã já anunciou, não será renovado.

O fruto da colaboração entre as duas marcas, que estão associadas também na Fórmula 1, em que a Mercedes é proprietária de 40% da equipe McLaren, é o superesportivo SLR.

O novo superesportivo da marca, que deve se chamar SLC, substituirá o SLR a partir de 2010. O seu desenvolvimento, no entanto, ficará a cargo da AMG, divisão de performance da marca alemão.

Segundo reportagem da agência Automotive News, a fabricante alemã teria sido orientada a produzir sozinha o modelo. Como se trata do modelo de maior apelo de marketing, seria uma forma de zelar por sua imagem de excelência de engenharia.

Minicarros nos EUA?

Preocupada com a queda na venda de utilitários esportivos (SUVs), a montadora General Motors está pensando em fabricar um novo minicarro Chevrolet para o mercado norte-americano a um custo de aproximadamente US$ 10 mil. O anúncio foi feito nesta quinta-feira (3) por Dee Allen, porta-voz da fabricante.

Segundo Allen, o Chevrolet Bater, um hatch duas portas 1.2 movido a gasolina, está entre as possibilidades estudadas pela companhia.

Apresentado como carro conceito no ano passado ao lado de outros dois pequenos veículos, ele foi projetado para atrair o público jovem das grandes cidades. A GM já produz o Chevrolet Aveo, um sedã de quatro portas compacto que compete no crescente mercado de mini-carros.

“O Bater é certamente um das opções a serem consideradas”, disse Allen. No entanto, ele adianta que não sabe quando nem onde o carro, que a princípio seria fabricado na Coréia do Sul, poderá ser vendido. “Ele ainda deve passar por uma reestruturação para alcançar os padrões de segurança e emissão exigidos pelos Estados Unidos”.

A queda na venda dos SUVs é puxada pela alta do petróleo, cujo barril bateu novo recorde nesta quinta, ao atingir US$ 145,29. Enquanto a montadora americana anunciou queda de 18% nas vendas nos Estados Unidos em junho e reduziu sua previsão para produção no terceiro trimestre deste ano, a venda de minicarros cresceu 31% na primeira metade do ano.

Carro de 8 milhões de dólares

A Maybach é conhecida por fabricar alguns dos modelos luxosos mais exclusivos do mundo. Mas, em maio de 2005, durante do Salão de Berlim, a montadora alemã se superou ao apresentar o carro-conceito Exelero. Três anos depois, o exemplar único é colocado à venda por “módicos” US$ 8 milhões.

Baseado nas linhas do clássico da marca SW 38, fabricado nos anos 30, o protótipo de dois lugares e 5,89 metros de comprimento é equipado com um motor V12 biturbo de 700 cavalos de potência.

Tanta potência, o levou aos 351,45 km/h já no primeiro testes em uma pista italiana de teste, em Nardo.

Construído em parceria com a fabricante de pneus Fulda Reifenwerk, para desenvolver pneus de alta performance, o Exelero foi construído por especialistas em design da cidade de Torino, na Itália, na plataforma do Maybach 57 S.
