Last year, we put in this polite request to the Glee powers that be, hoping that some of our favorite songs would somehow make it to the small screen. Since the show obliged us with rockin’ renditions of two of those songs, “Dream On” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” we thought we'd try again. After all, we have awesome taste. Here are 20 more songs that we'd love to see on Glee this season.
1. More Than A Feeling by Boston
Finn (Cory Monteith) has repeatedly expressed his love for classic rock—and this song would fit right in with his other hair-band-tastic performances (i.e. Journey, Air Supply, Kiss).
2. Come on Over by Christina Aguilera
Remember when Rachel (Lea Michele) told Finn that she wanted to wait until she was 25 to have “intercourse and babies”? Well, she could change her mind.
3. Brown-Eyed Girl by Van Morrison
Puck (Mark Salling) has been trying to impress Quinn (Dianna Agron) for some time now... and we think this tune might be the one that would win her over.
4. Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall
Once the winning-over is complete and Puck lands Quinn on his arm, Quinn will need a song to sing, too! This one fits perfectly in her range.
5. Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova
Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) is mesmerized by Mike Chang’s (Harry Shum, Jr.) abs right now, but deep down she knows she belongs with Artie (Kevin McHale). Singing this duet from Once (or any duet from the movie, really) will help them get back together.
6. Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen
I just want to see Will (Matthew Morrison) shake his groove thing... and Emma (Jayma Mays) probably wouldn’t mind spying on him, either.
7. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!
Last year, I suggested Wham!’s “Everything She Wants” for Kurt (Chris Colfer), and I’m not going to stop until he gets his George Michael on. Isn’t Kurt supposed to get a boyfriend this season, anyway?
8. Big Girls Don’t Cry by Fergie
Santana (Naya Rivera) will probably be pissed or jealous or offended by something this season, especially if Puck and Quinn reunite. What better way for her to express herself than by showing her Fergilicious side?
9. Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar
If Santana is pissed, then Brittany (Heather Morris) is pissed, too. She’d rock this song—and give it the killer choreography it never had.
10. Don’t You Forget About Me/Orinoco Flow by Simple Minds/Enya
In case Will gives the kids another mash-up assignment, Finn would have this one completely covered. (Trust me, the songs go together if you adjust the keys.)
11. Take It Easy by the Eagles
Yet another song for Puck to croon to steal the hearts of all the women-folk.
12. (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes
Finn and Rachel could do some major justice to the signature song from Dirty Dancing, as long as the learn the dance routine, too.
13. Footloose by Kenny Loggins
Speaking of dance routines, it’s about time for Artie to have another flash mob daydream, is it not?
14. When You Really Love Someone by Alicia Keys
Mercedes (Amber Riley) could make this beautiful, soulful ballad even better. I mean, you saw what she did with “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”
15. Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
Sam (Chord Overstreet) could lead the football team to victory (from the sidelines, anyway) with this super-inspiring anthem—and Coach Beiste (Dot Jones) might let the rest of the gang join in after they win.
16. A Whole New World from Aladdin
Sunshine (Charice Pempengco) has since transferred to Carmel High and Vocal Adrenaline, which obviously means she’s dating Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff) and needs a song to sing to him to express her gratitude.
17. I Can’t Let Go by Linda Ronstadt
If the above is true, then Rachel will see the pair together and, of course, feel a bit peeved. And her feelings for Jesse might resurface. And then she’d need a little Ronstadt to ease the pain.
18. Hard-Knock Life by Jay-Z
Budget cuts are hitting New Directions pretty hard, and Will has shown an affinity for rapping in the past. He could lead the kids in this performance—and storm Sue’s (Jane Lynch) office with song.
19. Surfin’ Safari by the Beach Boys
Actually, any song by the Beach Boys will do. Whatever gets New Directions out of Ohio and into the California sun.
20. Seasons of Love from Rent
It’s the obvious choice for the group’s next big Broadway number. (“I’ll Cover You” will also work.) Let’s hope Shelby Corcoran (Idina Menzel) comes back for this performance.
What songs would you like to see performed on Glee?
