The outgoing Infiniti M has been popular with reviewers. It's quick, luxurious, reasonably priced for a full-size luxury car, and when equipped with all-wheel drive, it sticks to the road well even in ice and snow. But few buyers know that. In competition with the exceptional Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan and the BMW 5-Series, the Infiniti M simply never won much attention.

For the 2011 model year, Infiniti has gone back to the drawing board. They’ve come up with a new full-size luxury sedan that, on paper at least, should be the equal of anything their German rivals have built. They’re also releasing it very early in the year, selling it as the 2011 Infiniti M five months before most 2011s are slated to hit the market.
