2008 Cadillac CTS, or 2007 BMW 328i?

Question 1
2008 Cadillac CTS, or 2007 BMW 328i?...  Which car do you prefer? Why?

Answers
1)   Terrible choices when you consider the Mercedes E class or the Audi 5 series in the mix. However, based on those two poor choices I'd go with the BMW simply for the resale value. The only worse choice would be a Toyota or Lexus. - Don S

2)   2007 BMW 328i because you'll have fewer problems down the road. - frederick f

3)   I like BMW but with out a doubt as much as every BMW lover would not like to admit you will recieve alot more "bang for your buck" in a standard 2008 Cadillac CTS. The cadillac CTS is obviously a larger sedan which is a plus, the engine bost more horsepower then any trim in the BMW 3 series range which include the 328i at 230 HP and the 335i at 300 HP while the Cadillac CTS is packed with a standard engine producing 304 HP. However BMW in my opinion will always be more refined then Cadillac in every aspect as well as the fact that the BMW will perform alot better then the CTS sedan or the entire Cadillac range for that fact. BMW has always been a sports oriented brand, the CTS and Cadillac overall has yet to successfully execute creating a well handeling sport performance vehicle no matter how much horsepower they pack into thier cars even with thier V-performance devision. If your looking for a car with more features and better standards behind the wheel youll probably be more content with the CTS however if your looking for a sports oriented great quality and refined compact sedan youll be happy behind the wheel of the BMW 3 series. Im all about the drive, so as for me I would have to choose the BMW 328i, even though it is the slower car of the two I think it handles and performs alot better behind the wheel then the CTS sedan. - John

4)   dude id totaly go for the cts man their nice car besides newer bmw arnt all that great in style like they used to be - mal

2)   nah it can be a sports car they consider honda civics that a re 4 door sporty so 528 def sports car if u get a manual if u get an outo id sagest a bmw in the 700 range like a 740 or i think other one 738 but not sure 528 would get up and move especial with a manual rwd hell yeah u be able keep up with some of the v6 mustangs and some of the v8 mustangs im prolly going get a 528 their nice car and their made for racing so their a sports car. - mal

3)   Does it matter what its classes as if you like the ride? In essence, all BMW's (Except the 316 and 318) are made to be sporty. Because it was designed in Germany where high performance and high tech is good :) - xperiex

Question 4
How do I make my 2002 BMW 330ci faster?...  I put high octane gas in it but want more performance. Thanks

Answers
1)   I if want performance you need to spend some money... buy an intake system, and maybe even a tubro. - chris

2)   High octane gas will not increase the performance of your car. (see my source or do a little googling yourself). If it makes you feel like you're doing something, then go ahead. Some high-performance cars need it because they run hot, which can cause pre-detonation (knock). But higher octane does not make higher performance.

You can get an aftermarket engine computer to boost performance. - Frank

3)   take your car and chip the computer. - frederick f

Question 5
If I bought an older BMW would the cost for maintenance be high like a new one?...  I found this 2002 BMW 3-Series that I like. The car only cost $2,900 but will it be expensive to have it serviced?

Answers
1)   There's an old saying that goes: "If you can't afford a new expensive car, you can't afford to maintain an old one."

Unfortunately even the older ones are quite expensive to maintain, and if it's that cheap there's probably something major wrong with it. Make sure you get a mechanic to look it over to figure out what condition everything is in. - Levi

2)   You would have to wonder why is someone selling something like that so cheap. Probably because either something is wrong with it, or it cost to much to maintain. If you are worried about maintenance cost then get something that is very common and not an expensive car when it came out. - Shane A

3)   yes - a $2,900 E46 spells trouble - you will be crying on that one. No decent bimmer costs that little - B
