Fictional writing response

I really like the fact that we are going into fictional writing. Fictional writing is so fun to create on your own because you can write down whatever your imagination can come up with. Fictional pieces are very expressing and a neat way to tell a story.
The first fictional packet we did included work from; Kim Addonizio, Carolyn Forche, Sharon Krinsky, et al. The work that these writers have produced is somewhat similar in context. They all basically, have an overall point of, finding one’s self, surviving and living life. For example, “Morning News,” by Jerome Stern talked about a guy who got bad news from a doctor telling him he had a week until he was going to die. He had overcome his fear a little by going to the store with his wife and picking out the biggest TV they had there. Or the old guy in, “Wallet” by Allen Woodman, whose fake wallet only got him in trouble and he dodge out the door like a bat out of hell. These are just a few examples of their work.
I believe the fictional writing part of our class will be an intriguing experience for me. I believe just like the poetry section, I will find better ways to write and become and stronger writer, perfecting my work that much more.
